Children's Ministries

“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.”
Proverbs 22:6

The goal of programs for children is to promote the spiritual growth in children and their families. Our activities will be fun, meaningful, and developmentally appropriate for children birth through 6th grade. Ministering to the family is just as important as ministering to the needs of the children. Programs are designed with the family in mind and rely on the talents of the older members of the family.

Christ Kids Sunday School
Christ Kids Sunday School for Elementary students (pre K – 5th Grade) begins at 9:40 with Praise Singing in the Music Room (west wing, all the way to the back) of the Sanctuary Building. Parents, don’t forget to sign your child in and indicate your location during the Sunday School hour. After singing and skits that introduce the morning lesson, students go to class where their parents may pick them up at 10:30.

Christ Kids in grades 1 – 5 use Bible Zone Live curriculum. The pre K (age 5) – Kindergarten class and the preschoolers aged 2 – 4 years use Exploring Faith curriculum. Click here to learn more!

Wee Worship
Wee Worship is offered for children ages three – 2nd grade during the 10:50 worship hour. Children begin the hour in the sanctuary with their parents and are escorted to the Music Room after Children’s Time. Parents may pick up their children from the classrooms immediately following the worship service. On communion Sundays, usually the first Sunday of the month, older children (and younger ones whose parents are not uncomfortable with their activity) are invited to remain in worship to partake of the Lord’s Supper with their families.

The goal of Wee Worship is to familiarize children with every feature of a worship service. Participants learn what worship is and why worship is a necessary part of the Christian faith. They learn the Lord’s Prayer and the Doxology, become familiar with the creeds and hymns, and explore various other aspects of worship such as communion. A child-oriented worship service is conducted with the children, and various activities reinforce the lesson. Wee Worship is not a substitute for Christian Education, nor is it meant to be. Children are encouraged to participate in regular worship with their families as soon as possible.

Pathways Bible Study
All children grades 4th-6th are invited to a fun evening of fellowship. The Pathways Bible Study meets on Wednesdays from 7:00 to 8:10 PM where a variety of topics relevant to pre-teens will be explored . What does it mean to be a Christian in today’s world? How can I do what is right and still fit in at school? Where can I find the answers to my questions? Scriptures are studied and enhanced by field trips and activities. Come join the fun!!

Parent's Night Out!
On the second Friday of each month, from 6:00 – 9:00 pm, children of all ages are invited to the Family Life Center for pizza, games, movies, and theme activities, while their parents are invited to celebrate a night on the town or a quiet evening at home.

Parents’ Night Out is suspended during the summer months of June and July. Call the church office for more information or to make reservations.

What can I do to help?
Helping with Children's Church is an equal opportunity blessing. We have established a mentoring program to train new leaders. The best way to learn is by doing so we encourage adults and youth to visit each of the classes and experience the excitement first hand. The next step is to sign up on the rotation list. If you haven't signed up to be a Children's Church leader yet - now's your chance. Call the church office for details.
